The Water Runners
The Water Runners hail from Kiama, NSW and play a high energy blend of original, contemporary, Australian folk with bluegrass and roots influences. They have played at venues and festivals, radio stations and Folk Clubs from Sydney to the Snowy, Tamworth to Tathra and Wollongong to Woy Woy. A multi-generational band, their music draws on their personal experiences as well as local stories and themes. Banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, double bass and percussion combine with tight harmonies in songs about murder, mayhem, life, love and love gone wrong. The Water Runners have gained a reputation for their engaging live shows, strong musicianship and great song writing. They released their first album, Heading South, in 2017 and their second album, Point of No Return, in 2019. In 2020, the song Point of No Return was a finalist in the bluegrass category of the Tamworth Songwriters Association Awards. While COVID-19 wiped out festivals for The Water Runners, the band has been busy appearing via social media live stream gigs and have given radio interviews across Australia. They have also been writing material and will be recording a new album in 2021. So, lock up your whiskey and put on your dancin' boots as The Water Runners take you on a musical journey through local tales and South Coast trails and home again.
