BUSHWALKING & STROLLS
​
Bellbrook Farm Loop Walk - a relatively easy walk along a beautifully crafted, mown track that takes you approximately 2km around the base of Gulaga Mountain. Be prepared to expend a little more effort as you return to the village via a fabulous staircase.

Gulaga Mountain Walk - a strenuous 5 hour walk, 14km return with steep uphill sections, but also incredible rainforest and views to the coast. The rock formations and spiritual significance make for a magical experience.

Mystery Bay - lots of short scenic walks around the coastline with elevated views perfect for whale spotting. Drive to the end of the campground road and park for a short 200m walk to Billy's Beach and the interesting rock formations of the kink zone. Easy to medium grade walks.
​
The Water Tower lookout - walk up behind the old RFS shed (take the short road up past the Dromedary Hotel) and walk through the gate to the top of the hill (about 200m). Great views to the coast and Gulaga. Medium grade - short, but uphill.
​
Narooma Boardwalk - a "must do" if you are in Narooma. The Mill Bay boardwalk offers lots of sea & bird life along the way with some great fishing spots thrown in for good measure. Easy grade walking.
Corunna Headland, Corunna Lake and the the old Velodrome - scenic track along the headland from Corunna Lake all the way to Billy's Beach and Mystery Bay. Now a little overgrown, the old Velodrome was once part of the very popular Corunna Recreational Reserve. Medium grade walk. Great views out to Montague Island along the way.

Ringlands Rotary Rainforest Walk - follows the bush track from Shell Point to Flying Fox Bay along picturesque Wagonga Inlet, Narooma. Pick up a brochure from the Narooma Visitor Centre which outlines some of the history and natural features of the inlet which is four kilometres one way and a medium grade walk.
​
The Old Tilba Water Reservior - accessible from Punkalla Tilba Rd, best with a 4 wheel drive, but you can park and walk the last steep section (stop at the road warning sign). Look for the gate on the right and then head up another 400m up a fairly steep track. Wind your way to the old dam wall and waterfall, a medium to hard grade grade walk with great views from the top. Keep an eye out for the geology plaques too!

WHALE WATCHING
THE HUMPBACK HIGHWAY AWAITS
Whale watching season runs from late August until November each year, peak month is October.
​
Affectionately known as the Humpback Highway, increasingly large numbers of whales are being seen each year on the south coast.
​
Head to one of the elevated points or viewing platforms at nearby beaches, ideally with binoculars, to spot whales from shore. Look for a change or disturbance in the surface of the water. Humpbacks are known for their acrobatics, especially on windy days, so don't be surprised to see a big splashy display when you are least expecting it!
Head out onto the water for a whale watching cruise or kayak tour really to get up close for a memorable experience - and don't forget the camera!
CYCLING
GET ON 2 WHEELS FOR SOME ACTION
Many trails and bike paths are dotted around the region to suit all levels. It's a really great area for cyclists with plenty of varied terrain to discover for both mountain bikers and road cyclists.
​
The Tilba region is also home to some significant cycling history - there's the remains of an old velodrome located near Mystery Bay which was built in the late 1890s by the famed Corunna Cycle Club. A little overgrown these days, it's a grassy oval track 400 metres in length and worth a visit to be part of early cycling history!

BIRD WATCHING
MAKE A TWEET!
From sea birds to delicate honeyeaters, the elusively lyrical Lyrebird and our Tilba Mascot, the Eastern Spinebill, there's an abundance of bird life in the region - and plenty of wonderful spots to sit quietly and observe our feathered friends.
​
You can pick up a bird list from the National Parks & Wildlife Service Centre in Narooma.
​
Plenty of bird spotting opportunities at the places listed on our Natural Wonders page from the sea bird colonies of Montague Island to the rainforests of Gulaga - but you'll be surprised what's a twitter in the gardens of our mainstreet with Fairy Wrens and a variety of parrots frequently out shopping with the rest of us.
FOUR WHEEL DRIVING
GET OFF THE BEATEN TRACK
Peak Alone Fire Trail is a nice easy drive through the forest behind Gulaga (Mt Dromedary) and down to the Tuross River. This track has many great side tracks and variations or take the climb up to Peak Alone following the power line track. It's not extreme but it is a fairly steep climb and is easily found when coming up along Brass Knocker Road.

More fun to be had driving up "the back way" to Gulaga past the old water reservior via Punkalla Tilba Rd - drive through Central Tilba and continue along - look for the turn to a hard left for the trail once you hit the dirt.
​
Nerrigundah to the south of Tilba also offer plenty of fire trails to explore.
​
For the 4WD adventurer with a bit of experience handling diverse terrain, Wadbilliga Road offers a medium-difficulty route, taking you through wild country with incredible mountain views.
Travel through the middle of Wadbilliga National Park, experiencing a wide range of terrain from coastal forest foothills, high river valley catchment plus rainforest and heathlands, and pretty darn close to true wilderness! More info is available from the Narooma Narional Parks Centre.
